Chores that work for 3 to 5 year olds

  • Put toys back in the bin
  • Put dirty clothes in the hamper
  • Brush teeth (with help)
  • Feed a pet, with you measuring the food
  • Put napkins or spoons on the table
  • Water a plant with a small cup
  • Wipe up their own spills

Tips for little kids

  • Start with 3 to 5 chores. You can add more once the first ones are habits.
  • Hang the chart at their eye level, not yours.
  • Let them color in the circle or add a sticker after each chore.
  • Show them how the first few times, then do it together, then let them do it alone.
